About

David Peterson is an expert in planning and designing developments in bushfire prone areas. He has been consulting in this field for over 20 years in small and large environmental consultancies. David started Peterson Bushfire in 2015 to focus on the aspects he enjoys most about consulting—client relationships, designing solutions and achieving project goals.

David first became interested in bushfire protection during an environmental science cadetship with Wollongong City Council in the late 1990’s. He assisted Council in the adjustment to modern-day bushfire protection legislation and in the management of bushfire risk across Council’s bushland reserves. After a short secondment with NSW Rural Fire Service to assist in the preparation of the first Wollongong Bush Fire Risk Management Plan, David moved into consulting, leading a team, and delivering projects Australia-wide.

Known in the industry for his excellent working relationships with clients and government agencies, David is now a technical leader in bushfire protection and a trusted advisor to a large client base.
